hurch Administrative ManagerPART-TIME CHURCH FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR           

PURPOSE: The church financial administrator is one of stewardship; to manage, safeguard, and maintain the financial resources entrusted to the church by the congregation and others to carry out its mission and vision.

DUTIES:  Though others in the church share responsibility as stewards of church assets and financial operations, the financial administrator has the specific responsibility of managing the church’s financial resources by

(1.) ensuring that sound fiscal practices and procedures are followed, and (2.) providing accurate, up-to-date information on the church’s financial position to the congregation for review and decision-making purposes.

Specific responsibilities of the financial administrator include performing and overseeing the following functions, including but not limited to:

  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Approve checks prior to signing and disbursement
  • Produce financial reports for the quarterly business meetings
  • Work with administrative staff to ensure accurate record keeping in our Realm system
  • Work with the Treasurer and Stewardship Committee, staff and other ministry teams to oversee
  • other financial duties as needed and requested
  • Oversee functions, listed below, in collaboration with the office administrator and other
  • committees:
  • Maintain accurate records of church finances
  • Maintain the process of income receipts and recording, including counting, and depositing of tithes and offerings
  • Maintain the disbursement and recording of all expenditures
  • Maintain the recording of all members’ gifts into personal giving records
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the church
  • Maintain internal controls to protect the assets of the church
  • Oversee accounting/bookkeeping services authorized and requested
  • Maintain the processing of the church payroll
  • Oversee expense reports and other expenditures of the church

Requirements

  • Part-time, 25+ hours per week 
  • Previous experience (8+ years) as treasurer, accountant, or controller
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Previous church finance experience preferred
  • Experience with Realm preferred

Director of Youth/Young Adults

This position is responsible for and will lead junior high, high school, and young adult groups.

 The Director will provide the necessary environment so that these individuals will develop the skills necessary to succeed scholastically and interpersonally, as well as to grow boldly in their faith. The focus of this ministry will be on encouragement and spiritual growth, to love God and one another in Christian community, to grow as Christian disciples and equipping them to live their faith boldly in the world with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength.

This position will report to the senior pastor and work collaboratively with deacons, personnel, administrative and ministry planning teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • A member of Berea Baptist Church.
  • A strong calling to student, youth, and young adult ministries.
  • Ability to relate exceptionally well to youth, parents, and younger adults.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Berea Baptist Church and its mission.
  • Weekly attendance at worship is expected.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and experience in a related field is preferred. Primary Responsibilities
  • Organize, coordinate, promote, and manage all aspects of middle school, high school, and young adult ministries: including regular weekly activities, small groups, interest groups, study, planned and ongoing activities and outings, retreats, servant and/or missional activities.
  • Supervise and manage volunteers involved in age-level ministries.
  • Work with pastors and church leadership to evaluate, adjust, innovate, and grow each age-level ministry, implementing new strategies for growth in keeping with the church’s mission, vision, and strategic planning. Provide reports and updates on milestones and goal achievements.
  • Maintain good communication and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, deacons, and other church ministries to ensure the use of appropriate curriculum and resources for each age group facilitating spiritual formation and maturation as Christian disciples.
  • Coordinate all scheduling, calendaring, and communication of ministry activities with appropriate staff.
  • Provide and communicate short-term and long-range planning that will develop structure and a system that will allow for future growth.
  • Strategically plan, set goals, and budget finances for each calendar year.
  • Ensure adherence to Safe Sanctuaries policies.
  • Attend staff, Church Council, and other administrative committee meetings as required.
  • Network with Church groups/members to support recruiting efforts for Church Youth Ministries. Jr. High Responsibilities
  • Plan special events for this group that develop Christian friendships and growth.
  • Seek these youth out in church to help build personal relationships with them.
  • Attend Jr. High activities at church and at school (when possible) to help develop a greater understanding of their culture and how to bring Christ into that world.
  • Help students learn to encourage and respect others High School Responsibilities
  • Develop a curriculum for regular events and young people meetings.
  • Plan special events for this group that builds a stronger faith and deeper Christian relationships.
  • Develop ministry opportunities during summer break (i.e., Serve Projects, Retreats, and community work projects).
  • Seek these young people out in church to help build personal relationships.
  • Attend High School activities at church and at school (when possible) to help develop a greater understanding of their culture and how to bring Christ into that world. Young Adults (Single and Married) responsibilities
  • Develop regular Bible Study for growth in knowledge as well as faith walk.
  • Plan special events that develop a closer sense of Christian family within the church Competencies, Working Skills, and Attributes
  • Strong, mature, contagious, and passionate commitment to and love for Jesus Christ.
  • Understanding of and alignment with Christian beliefs.
  • Competency in basic listening skills and appropriate lay counseling for youth.
  • Ability to communicate and relate to youth and young adults on their level.
  • Proven ability to inspire students one-on-one, and in both large and small groups.
  • Sufficient knowledge of people development, especially youth and young adult development.
  • Excellent relational, verbal, written, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of appropriate agencies for necessary referrals for additional professional support
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead, recruit volunteers, and lead all ministry related activities.
  • Understanding of spiritual formation.
  • Computer, social media, internet proficiency.
  • Willing team player.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and creative.
  • Recreational, musical, artistic, or outdoor interests are a plus.

Director of Children’s Ministry

The role of the Director of Children’s Ministries is to provide care and age-appropriate instruction for infants through fifth grade at each service and other activities and events planned throughout the year.  It is the role of this director to ensure an environment of excellence in all children’s ministry programs.

The director also needs to make sure parents feel safe about leaving their children. The role of the director is to provide a place where children will want to come so they will learn skills necessary to succeed scholastically and interpersonally, as well as to grow and develop in their faith. To achieve this

goal, the director must be a well-educated, creative visionary, with strong relational skills, and the ability to teach, lead, encourage and motivate students and parents.

Primary Responsibilities

Instruction and Program Development

  • Provide care and age-appropriate instruction for infants through fifth grade at each service.

leaders, space, equipment, etc.).

items/materials for each program.

  • Consistent attendance of staff, Church Council, and other administrative and/or committee meetings as required.
  • Network with Church groups/members to support recruiting efforts for Church Children’s Ministries.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure/advocate for/implement appropriate requirements for safety and excellence in all aspects of children’s ministry. This includes but is not limited to access to the children as well as equipment for their use during school hours. Parents should feel safe about leaving their

children while attending church services.

  • Assure implementation of safe sanctuary policies and procedures to keep all children and the adults who work with them safe. Monitor the physical environment of the children’s area for safety.
  • Maintain updated information of all children in ministry (and visitors) including but not limited to allergies, contact information, and special needs.

Supervision and People Development

  • Supervise and manage the nursery coordinator and volunteers involved in children’s ministries.
  • Coordinate recruitment, enlistment, and training for volunteers and small group leaders.
  • Schedule all volunteers for all events and Sunday services with assistance from the nursery coordinator.
  • Provide teaching and encouragement for all volunteers.
  • Participate in ongoing personal development such as podcasts, online     webinars, seminars, and conferences.

Relationships and Communication

  • Maintain good communication and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, deacons, and other church ministries to ensure the use of appropriate curriculum and resources.
  • Working closely with the staff, administration, and committees for posting, promoting and sharing information regarding children’s ministry on the website, social media, email, and written collateral.
  • Create and maintain a children’s ministry calendar of all events and activities.
  • Work with pastors and church leadership to evaluate, adjust, innovate, and grow the children’s ministry, implementing new strategies for growth in keeping with the church’s mission, vision, and strategic planning. Provide reports and updates on milestones and goal achievements.
  • Coordinate all scheduling, calendaring, and communication of ministry activities with appropriate staff.
  • Maintain consistent and regular communication with parents as well as provide the tools they need for spiritual leadership for their families.
  • Meet with children who desire baptism.

POSITION: Church Administrative Manager
PURPOSE: To provide general administrative support to church members, staff, and committees,
provide financial reporting assistance, and support facility and grounds matters as necessary

DUTIES:
The Administrative Manager actively supports and lives the vision, mission, and core values of
Berea Baptist Church. Specifically, the administrative manager handles the day-to-day operations
of the church, including financial support and church office management. This includes internal
and external communications and administrative assistance for staff, members, and committees.
The Church Administrative Manager is a point of contact for church members and committees,
providing resources and addressing various issues throughout the week. They are a liaison for
church leaders, staff, members, committees, and the senior pastor. The Administrative Manager
represents the church and is expected to support the goals of the church and demonstrate the
church’s teachings in their life and work.

ADMINISTRATIVE:
• Supports the needs of the Senior Pastor
• Provides leadership and guidance to the Administrative Assistant in alignment with the
Senior Pastor and the mission of Berea Baptist Church
• Supports the Personnel Committee with HR functions including recruitment, onboarding,
employee engagement, employee and volunteer handbooks, volunteer work, and employee
vacation schedules
• Supports all church committees as needed
• Maintains confidential church and personnel records
• Oversees the master church calendar and ensures there are no conflicts
• Oversee the website and social media
• Manages the church schedule for use of the Family Life Center for weddings and gatherings,
as well as the use of classrooms for Bible studies, committee meetings, and other events
• Answers questions and provides resources for general administrative processes and
procedures
• Performs background checks as needed

BUILDING/PROPERTY SERVICES:
• Supports the Building and Property Committee as needed to resolve issues, assist with
service contracts (grounds, cleaning, office equipment, utilities, etc.), and helps with the dayto-day maintenance of activities for buildings and equipment
• Serves as the contact for church maintenance calls and processing of associated invoices and
payments
• Maintains all insurance policies associated with the church and keeps an inventory of all
Church property including vehicles and equipment

FINANCE/REPORTING:
• Responsible for processing payroll and keeping records of employee benefits, insurance, and
vacation time
